Crestmont Research, a wholly-owned affiliate of Crestmont Holdings, LLC., develops provocative insights on the financial markets and on the hedge fund industry.  Crestmont Holdings and its affiliates provide financial market education services and manage a fund of hedge funds portfolio.  Crestmont’s investment approach with its hedge fund portfolio concentrates on niche mid-sized, long-biased equity long/short hedge funds located primarily in the State of Texas. The financial market education services can be developed for online, on-demand, or in-person delivery.

Crestmont Research was founded by Ed Easterling to develop provocative insights and perspectives on the financial markets and hedge funds.  Mr. Easterling also is a partner with a $130 million private equity fund and a Senior Fellow with the Alternative Investment Center in the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University ("Cox School").  He recently served for five years on the adjunct faculty in the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University where he developed the curriculum and taught the course on Hedge Fund Investment Management for graduate business school students.  Additionally, Mr. Easterling has recently served as a founding Board Member of the Texas Hedge Fund Association and as an Advisory Board member for the alternative investments club at the Cox School of Business at SMU.  Mr. Easterling is the author of Unexpected Returns: Understanding Secular Stock Market Cycles, contributing author to Just One Thing: Twelve of the World's Best Investors Reveal the One Strategy You Can't Overlook (John Wiley & Sons: 2005), and co-author of chapters about Crestmont’s research in the book, Bull’s Eye Investing by John Mauldin, published by John Wiley & Sons.

Previously, Mr. Easterling and two partners consummated the acquisition of American Federal Bank, F.S.B., a $3.2 billion federal savings bank formed through the purchase of twelve Texas thrifts. At American Federal, he served as Chairman of the Asset and Liability Committee and held other key roles in portfolio risk management and investment structuring.  Prior to creating American Federal, Mr. Easterling served as Vice President and Treasurer of Swift Independent Packing Company, where he managed the treasury and corporate finance functions for the $4 billion revenue meatpacking and distribution company.  Previously, Mr. Easterling served as Treasurer of Valley View Capital Corporation, the Dallas-based private equity firm that consummated the acquisition of Swift in 1986.  During his tenure with Valley View and its affiliates, Mr. Easterling had significant trading and risk management responsibilities in the firm’s commodity and securities hedging and trading operations. Mr. Easterling holds a BBA in business, a BA in psychology, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
